TikTok Uses Math To Prove Padmé Should Be Strongest Star Wars Character

Over the years, George Lucas’ prequel trilogy has been the center of both fan displeasure and praise. Set before the original Star Wars films, the prequel trilogy told Anakin Skywalker’s (Hayden Christensen) origin story as he turned from a Jedi Knight into iconic villain Darth Vader. Additionally, it introduced fans to Ewan McGregor’s well-received Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Portman’s Padmé. At the time, Portman was still an up and coming actress.

A teenage queen turned galactic senator, Padmé appeared in all three prequel films. Though she might be best known as Anakin’s love interest and Luke and Leia’s mother, Padmé accomplished plenty on her own and grew to be a vital Star Wars character. In addition to the prequel movies, Padmé has appeared in the animated Clone Wars series, plus various novels and video games. Like the rest of the prequel trilogy, Padmé was met with mixed responses when she was first created, though this new TikTok makes the case that she’s been underappreciated.

TikTok user Shaley created a video where she makes the case for Padmé being the strongest Star Wars character. Recalling a moment from Attack of the Clones when Padmé jumped from the top of a pole onto a reek, Shaley used math to determine how much force her body would’ve taken on impact. Since she didn’t react at all to the fall, it’s safe to say she’s pretty strong. Star Wars writer Daniel José Older shared the TikTok on Twitter, and it can be seen down below.

Some fans might use other facts to argue a character’s strength, like how they act in battle or the way they process traumatic events. This mathematical bit of evidence, while unconventional, certainly makes the case that Padmé is fiercer than most. Of course, some fans might argue they already knew this, since Padmé has several great moments throughout the prequel movies. She even has one of the best lines: “So this is how liberty dies—with thunderous applause.”

The Star Wars franchise has since moved on from Padmé’s era, though there’s always a chance it could circle back. Characters always stand a chance of returning for more stories, even if their death has already been shown on screen. Just look at both Obi-Wan and Anakin, as both of them will return in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Portman might have moved on from Star Wars, but who knows what the future holds. Perhaps Padmé will make a triumphant return now that she’s being recognized as the strongest character.
