The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (IT Ministry) on Monday released a list of 59 Chinese apps which are now banned in India. In such a situation, TickTalk has also been removed from Google Play Store. Meanwhile, TicTalk has also released an official statement.

Ticktock said in a statement that they are in the process of complying with the government’s order to shut down the app. However, at the same time TickTock also said that it has not shared the information of any Indian using the app with any foreign government, including China. Ticktock said he was called to meet with the relevant government parties and to clarify.

The IT ministry said in an official statement released on Monday that it had received a number of complaints from various sources, including several reports about the misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms. These reports state that these apps “steal users’ data, send them unauthorizedly to servers located outside India.”
